Painted during an art residency in Blairmore, Crowsnest Pass, this self-portrait captures the quiet solitude of the artistic journey. Created in the heart of winter, surrounded by snow-covered silence, I found myself alone—physically and emotionally—while working on a collaborative group show. The crow-headed figure in a paint-stained denim jacket reflects my state of isolation: a creature of observation, perched between connection and solitude. This piece speaks to the often unseen loneliness that comes with pursuing a creative life.
